  • What is self-storage?

    Self-storage refers to safe and secure storage spaces or "storage units" (such as rooms, lockers, containers, and/or outdoor spaces) that are rented to tenants (businesses and individuals), on a short-term (often month-to-month) or long basis, depending on a client needs.

  • What are the benefits of Self Storage?

    Everyone requires self-storage at some point in their life, whether redecorating or renovating, moving home, need a place to keep your tools, sports equipment, boat or office files, self-storage is for everyone.

    Secure Self storage offers you a convenient way to store your belongings if you don’t have the space or just need a place for safe keeping for any period of time, for a fee.

  • How does Self Storage work?

    Think Secure Storage provides you with your own individual storage space. You can book your storage space by phone, online, or simply turn up and unload. We will help you find the best most economical space, according to your needs and budget, safe in the knowledge that we will take care of everything else. It really is that simple and hassle-free!

  • How do I know how much space I need?

    Think Secure Storage has storage units ranging from 3 sqm, all the way up to 12 sqm unit.

    You are welcome to visit our facility – situated at 101 Sandown Road, Parklands, to view the different size units, and to reassure yourself of the size required at any time during office hours, and talking with one of our storage experts. We are open 7 days a week from 08h00 to 17h00 and on public holidays from 08h00 to 13h00.

    If you chose the wrong size on your profile, you can change the unit size at any time (subject to availability) 

Security & Access

At Think Secure not only are we here to help you store your valuable belongings safely and conveniently in one of our storage units. We want you to have peace of mind knowing your possessions are completely safe, because we take security very seriously.

Below are the frequently asked questions about security & access at Think Secure.

    • What security measures do you have in place?

      Think Secure are experts in secure self-storage in Cape Town. We use various means to guarantee that your belongings are safe and secured when stored at Think Secure:

      • Think Secure staff: During opening hours our staff are always present at Think Secure locations.
      • Camera monitoring: We have both visible and hidden CCTV cameras, 24 hours per day to monitor the interior and exterior of our facilities.
      • Building security: We have a security officer on site 24 hours per day, to keep an eye on everything, and to guarantee the safety and security around the premises.
      • Personal lock and key: You are the only person who has keys for this lock. So, no one else can access your belongings.

       

    • Must I bring my own lock?

       

      If you have a lock, fantastic! If not, we sell small and large padlocks for your convenience. 

Renting a unit

To rent storage at Think Secure you will first need to establish the size of unit you require, before requesting a quote or booking your space online.

    • What does self-storage cost?

      The cost is dependent on the size unit that you select. We have many sizes available to suit your needs. Contact info@thinksecure.co.za for pricing.

    • Is there a deposit payable?

      Yes, there is a deposit payable upon confirmation of lease agreement. The deposit payable is one month’s rental fee. The deposit is due payable back to yourself within 30 days from move out date.

    • How long can I rent a storage unit?

      You can rent your unit for a minimum of one month and thereafter for as long as it suits you, as long as you keep your monthly payments up to date.

    • Can I rent a unit over the phone or online?

      The entire process of securing a unit can be done online or you can request a quote from our friendly staff, that will be happy to guide you and answer any questions you might have. All bookings are however done online. If you have any questions or need assistance, Think Secure Self Storage is happy to assist.

    • Do I need to sign a long-term lease?

      No, we rent on a month-to-month basis, but a long-term lease is possible.

    • How long do I have to sign up for?

      While you can use our facility for as long as you need, the lease is a monthly contract. If you are ready to move out, just give us 14 days written notice that you will not occupy your unit the next monthly billing period. Termination can be done online as well, provided your account is up to date.

    • How long do I have to sign up for?

    • What are the following steps after making a reservation?

      After reserving your storage unit, you will receive a confirmation e-mail of your reservation and all the details.

      Before moving your belongings into your unit, you need to sign a rental contract. You can visit the receptionist during office hours to do this. It takes about 15 to 30 minutes to go through the booking process and signing the contract.

    • What documentation do I need to lease a unit?

      Documents you need during the online sign up process includes ID document, Proof of address and proof of bank account.

    • Can I change my mind after making a reservation?

      Yes. However once the lease agreement is signed - a cancellation fee will be charged. Unit number and size can change subject to availability.

    • Do I have to reserve a unit before I get there?

      No reservation is required, but it is advisable. Please visit our “obtain a quote” page, to view availability, we have PC’s available at our offices as all our bookings are made online.

    • Does the rental amount include insurance?

      No, it does not. Kindly inform your insurance of the address at which your goods will be stored.

    • What if my storage unit becomes too small or too big?

      Since our rentals are strictly month to month, it’s very easy to upgrade or down size your storage requirements.

Your Account

At Think Secure we try to make things as easy as possible for you, and that also applies to the administrative side of renting a storage unit.

Below you can find a number of frequently asked questions about the contract, paying rent and how to cancel your contract.

    • What forms of payment do you accept?

      All payments can be done via EFT, Direct Deposit or card payments online or at our office. Think Secure Storage does not accept cash as a form of payment.

    • When is my payment due?

      Your monthly payment will be due on the 1st day of each month from commencement of the contract.

    • Do you prorate my final month?

      No. If you for example vacate on the 15th, you will only be charged for 15 days and not the entire month.

    • Can I pay my bill online?

      Yes. You can view your invoices and pay it online when you log in on our website.

    • Will I need to pay a deposit?

      Yes, there is a deposit payable upon confirmation of lease agreement. The deposit payable is one month’s rental fee. The deposit is due payable back to yourself upon move out.

    • How much does it cost to move in?

      Each tenant of Think Secure Storage has their own profile which is easily accessible from our website, which has all your personal details, payment details and units leased.

    • How much notice do I need to give when moving out?

      Fourteen (14) Days’ notice is required prior to vacating your unit. Should you vacate your unit before the termination date, you will still be liable for the full 14 days’ notice period.

    • What if I do not pay?

      We always work with clients who are having trouble making payments, however, if you default on your storage payments after 7 days we will over-lock your unit and deny you access until you are up to date on your payments. If you continue to not make payment, we can, under the storage agreement, reserve the right to sell your property to recover the monies owing.

The Logistics of moving

At Think Secure Storage, we want to help make it as easy as possible to store your belongings. Good packing materials can really make a difference.

You will find moving boxes and other packing materials at every Think Secure location. The on-site manager will be happy to advise you.

Uses for your storage unit

  • What can I store at Think Secure?

    In our storage units you can store anything from a few boxes to the furniture and fittings of a small house. Additionally, we also offer storage for boats, caravans, cars, jet skis and other types of passenger and recreational vehicles and equipment.

    A battery charging area is also available on the premises, at no extra cost to you.

  • What type of storage do you have available for vehicles?

    We have 52 parking bays (34 are uncovered and 18 are shade net covered bays) for cars, vans, trailers, caravans, jet-skis and boats. Our facility is secured by a patrol guard, electronic access control and an alarm system. We also offer you a battery charging area.

  • How big is your storage units?

    Our smallest units are 3 m², big enough for a few garage items or a couple of archive boxes. Our largest unit at 12 m² can accommodate the contents of a small house, including the furniture and major appliances.

  • Can I run a business from my self storage unit?

    The facility is strictly storage only. That being said, you are quite welcome to use your unit to store excess inventory and equipment that is in the way, however you are not allowed to use your unit as a workspace for yourself or serve customers from it. You are however welcome to contact our office staff to help you come up with ideas on how renting storage at Think Secure can augment or free up your current business space.

  • Are there any power points in the units?

    For the safety of your goods there are no power points or electrical fittings in our storage units. However, there are sufficient illumination in the units from the lights in the passageways.

  • Are the storage units clean and dry?

    Yes, after any customer vacates we inspect the unit to make sure it is in a pristine condition for the next customer. To maintain storage conditions that are clean, dry, rot and pest free are a very high priority for us.

  • Is there anything I cannot store at Think Secure?

    Items that cannot be stored include live animals and plants hazardous, explosive, flammable, toxic and perishable chemicals, liquids and materials, as well as illegal, stolen or dangerous items Vehicles must be operable and accompanied by the registered owner at the time of occupation.

  • What area do you cover

    We serve the greater Cape Town area from our premises in Parklands, Milnerton.
